Good on you. 
If only all Brits here in Tenerife were willing to try like you, there would definitely be less problems here. I'm sure many of the unfriendly locals are so because of foreigners who expect them to speak other languages. I've even witnessed visitors getting quite angry with staff who don't understand them.   |

thanks mate .
well after all its not our country and i think if we all make a effort it would be a lot better for everyone , even if we get it wrong some times .
i have found that if you are willing to try then other people will help you out a lot more
