Post Post subject: Jabs, immunisations and infant health checks Reply with quote

Hi

I was trying to find out how all this works out there. Amber will have her first jabs just before we leave to come back to Tenerife, but she will be due another set a month after that - and then obviously all her other checks.

A friend called up her english doctor to find out for me and they said it is only done in the hospitals. The reason I ask is because I am trying to balance the books as it were and figure out if it would be better to go private or social in the health care dept.

Could someone who has been through this process please help? Thanks

If I knew what I know now I would go private for the children unless your Spanish is fluent.

All jabs etc can be done at the clinics / doctors. You need to find out this doctors definition of a hospital.

The only thing with private is that most health insurance doesn't cover it. This is why I asked my friend to call to find out the cost. Its worth it I just need to prepare eiither way.

Its done rather like the UK system with a few extra jabs added for health reasons...being close to africa...

I have never had a problem really.....My 3 need to go back for their next set soon..

I dont pay private, I pay through the social and the jabs are done at the doctors...

The doctors that you will get for children are not the same doctor you get for yourself....or normally so....I had to register my children at the center salud....of the area I am in lol

If you have been paying socil then you should be fine..

Thats the thing I paid social til I left - the last month I paid was November. Obviously not being in the country I haven't paid whilst here.
