Tenerife Siam park has announced that they'll be opening their doors on May 1st 2008. About 18 months late but better late than never! It really will be a fantastic boost for tourism in the South of Tenerife.

1st May?? I'll believe it when I see it. The park is sounding great though. Apparently its going to break a few world records, e.g. world's largest artificially generated wave. And probably the world's most disorganised water-park project too Laughing

Does anyone have any up to date photos of the park 'almost' complete?

http://www.siamparktenerife.com/latestpics.html

The first few are the latest ones with a video of the wave pool...

The newspapers have been talking about it this week. The price will be 19 euros for residents although it does not say a tourist price. They also say that the 1st May is set in stone and tickets will be on sale 10 days before.

From 16th April the rides will be being tested by workers of siam park itself...

I was having an interesting conversation about Siam Park with one of the local waiters at my hotel.

He said although the park would bring plenty of employment opportunities to the area he questioned why on earth did they decide to build a Park which primarily consisted of using the most precious of Tenerife's commodities...Water Shocked ?

Particularly when Aqualand is only a stones through away from the site....

He predicted that Aqualand would end up closing with the launch in May...

Regards

Looks like they've made a mess of the wave machine design. The surfers are having trouble staying on the wave because it's breaking too fast and in a straight line. A natural wave usually breaks 'along' the wave, hence the surfer can ride sideways along the wave (or in the tube) rather than trying to ride straight down it at a right angle..

And if that's supposed to be the world's largest artifical wave, its not going to take too much effort for someone to beat the record... Rolling Eyes

The rest of the park looks and sounds impressive, but somehow I'm not sure if its going to live up to all the hype. And I can't wait to see how much they try to charge tourists for admission/food/lockers/floats etc.

And even more interesting, what's going to happen to the Aquapark when the Siam Park opens? Like most moribund businesses in the south, I'm surprised they haven't yet offloaded it at a ridiculously inflated price Shocked

Does anyone have any inside information on what the annual pass, if there is to be one, will cost for Siam Park.

I am sure the Loro Parque one is about 60 euros which is not bad for a year.

If Aqualand were not daylight robbers charging for lockers, rubber rings and sun loungers on top of the entrance fee they may have more of an interest from residents.

If Siam Park use the same policy of charging for these as well, on top of the entrance fee, then they are OUT OF ORDER.

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

The aquapark do a special where you can get in again right cheap with in the next week....we normally get someone to get us tickets when they are in there lol.... Embarassed makes it so much cheaper lol..

Don't worry Stripps, you'll just have to carry your suntan lotion around the park with you... Laughing

Hey we'll be getting an Annual Pass....(if its cheap..& of course if the parks any GOOD!! lol)

Being literally 5mins away from home, it'd be a crime not to go to! I just wonder tho if the hoards of people rushing to it, esp over the summer as they get off the planes, will make it possible to get a go on any of the rides!!!

You might indeed get a suntan, but it'll probably be whilst standing in 1 of the queues!!! lol
