Rob, will you allow this please.
Most will have seen in the press or heard on the news of the plight of many former Gurkha soldiers under threat of deportation from the UK - it's a disgrace! They are not allowed to work here to support themselves and have to rely on charity - nor are they entitled to NHS treatment.
And this when NL lets in any foreign tosspot.
A petition to the PM has been started and it needs support!
If you want to help - it is at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Gurkha-soldiers/
Edit to add: You must be a British citizen or resident to sign the petition
Thankyou. _________________ Getting older is no problem.

Actually Melders, ANY Brit can petition, including Expatriates. You put in your overseas address in the box and instead of adding your postcode, you select Expat from the drop down box underneath.
Great post though Melders, I've just signed up myself. Its incredible the muppets they allow into the country but these hard working and loyal servants of Her Majesty don't get our proper respect. _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! A little bit of info courtesy of wiki....
The Brigade of Gurkhas – or to be precise, their salaries and pensions – is a significant source of income for Nepal. Every year, Gurkha recruiters select 270 out of tens of thousands of applicants, mostly from the Rai, Limbu, Gurung, Pun and Magar tribes.
Gurkha soldiers have been awarded 13 Victoria Crosses, although all but one (Rambahadur Limbu) were awarded when all Gurkha regiments were still part of the Indian Army. A further 13 have been awarded to British officers in Gurkha regiments. They have affiliations with the Royal Scots, the King's Royal Hussars and the Royal Green Jackets.
Gurkhas are also recruited by the British Army for the over 2,000 strong Gurkha Contingent of the Singapore Police. Approximately 2,000 Gurkhas also serve in a similar role in the Gurkha Reserve Unit in Brunei.
I propose that not only do they receive all rights but that they should each be given a harem of as many women as they can manage to breed some good 'stock' to counter the influx of 'others'. _________________ .

I second that proposal - and wonder if I'm too old to join the Gurkha Regiment..... I could pass for a tall ( and old-ish ) Gurkha. _________________ Getting older is no problem.

Sound advice as always from Rob So who exactly are the 'King's Royal Hussies' anyway?
Come on guys, its only up to 7,665 at the last count. Lets pull out the stops. After all, even Gordon Brown needs something to read whilst 'on the throne'!
However, I suspect the number of petitioners will rise considerably when all the U.K. office workers get back to their pc's tomorrow and log in. _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |

Nice work folks. So what's the petition count up to as of today?
Do you think that Gordon Brown actually reads any or even hears about any of these petitions, or do you think some brown-nosing civil servant just tosses them onto a big pile ready for the Downing Street bonfire party? Hmmm.
I could quite easily file 100 petitions each week. _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |
