Tammy,
I can fully understand what your saying about not being able to leave the states and have a look in Tenerife then be able to go back.
one of my employees at work, his daughter and hubby packed up here moved to the states and also started a profitable business, he was then informed that his wife, who suffered from cancer about 15 years ago, had been hit again, very sad, his daughter came "home" to the UK to see her mother, things were not looking good, her hubby could not leave the country to join her or they would lose everything, sadly my employees wife passed away, the daughter couldnt get back into the states, visa probs etc when eventually she did manage to get a visa to go for a holiday sadly her marriage ws over...... I wont go into the details here, she is now unhappy in the states after losing her mother, her father, my employee is here on his own, coping well but obviously broken hearted, she awaits time living unhappy over there, till she can get back to the UK.
and heres the UK who appear to let anyone and everyone into there country.........
nightmare isnt it _________________ im back in Tenerife soon........ yepeeeeeeeee |

It actually sounds good..
Smaller plot: no mowing the lawn in 100.
Smaller fridge: less food to buy to fill it.
Smaller cooker: littler turkey.
Smaller car: less gas.. petrol, 5.8ltr kills me.
Smaller bed:
Smaller portions of food: loose weight.
Smaller house: quicker to clean.
Smaller washers: less electric.
Smaller tumbler: less less electric.
Smaller bath tubs: I'm only 5 foot 1, and sick of nearly drowning every time I take a bath.
Smaller garages: less room to store Alan's unwanted junk.
Smaller car parks: find car quicker, usually 20 minutes in Wal-Mart.
IT SOUND'S FANTASTIC.... AND STILL NO VISA REQUIRED. |

Sorry Dianne, the last post must have posted the same time as yours, it's a sad story, but just one of many we hear about, people are getting kicked out, leaving and have problems same as you just posted, it really is hard over here, and we have story's that would make you cry.
Maybe, the USA immigration don't want us here and are deliberately making it hard to stay??

What makes all this so frustrating is that we are land locked because of circumstances that were beyond our control.
We are just looking for a simple life, big cars and big house's arn't everything.
A little back yard will do me, with a couple of chickens and a goat.
AND A SWIMMING POOL.... only joking |

Many people here live on complexes (are they called condominiums over there?), either in an apartment or in a townhouse, with a shared pool which would be cheaper (and less hassle) than having your own!
You have a difficult decision to make and only you, together with your family, can make that decision. If you have made it over in the U.S. and have run successful businesses there then you are likely to get on better than many Brits who try living over here. I think I also remember you mentioning before that you spoke some Spanish so that will also help you A LOT. You also appear to have a positive outlook and that is also a good thing that will keep you going through difficult times, which you will no doubt come across here.
I think Funky should be nominated for champers for all his posts in this thread! _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17

Good Morning everyone.
It's really Cold here this Morning, 43 degrees think I'll go back to Bed
Thank's for the input Jenny, all of you have made us feel better about the move.
It's hard to make your self understood, as to why someone would want to leave a place like Florida.
I Guarantee, when we have made the move from the US, many other Brit's will follow. Alan has picked up the title ( He who dares wins )
There is a lot of Expat's over here too scared to move on, we have realized that Florida has no Future for us personally and that's why we are moving on.
Jenny you are right we have Condominiums out here and Town homes, they have taken off real big out here, less Property Taxes.
We are prepared for living in a smaller Home... compared to US standards, one of the homes we lived in over here was 3,300.00 SQ FT with six bedrooms and three living rooms, which is all well and good, but cost between $500.00 to $600.00 to cool in the Summer and the same to Heat in Winter and that's monthly, and believe me it get's cold here in the Winter.
Any way Thank's again to everyone, still have a lot of Questions to ask, can't over load my Brain cell's too much at the mo.
Tammy. |

You're unlikely to need much to heat a property here in the winter unless you live way up the mountain!! And for cooling in the summer, I just have a couple of fans (some people have air-con). It doesn't really get unbearably hot here in the summer like say in Seville or other parts of southern Spain and we have a very mild winter and only see snow occasionally up on Teide. _________________ Who am I?
