I think it's just a boy vs girl thing.

Boys don't do much chit chat and just talk a minimum amount about relevant (or sometimes not very relevant) topics. Girls, on the other hand, need to chat about all and nothing. In this way we feel good, can chat to someone during the day/night, when our husband's are out / not being very chatty (eg in front of TV) and make friends. I have made some great friends on here and if I had only chatted about Tenerife perhaps would not have got to know them as I have.

People who come on here just for information either search for it or go to the relevant section. They probably don't go into the General Chit Chat section, and if they do so then they have been pre warned - it is General Chit Chat and not meant to be informative!

Madre......I would not say that Funky argues, he just puts his point across, in his own way ok some people may find it a bit caustic, but when you get used to some of his replies you look forward to them

and on a Tenerife note, while I was there last week I met up with Karl, Claire and Tom........ we had a good time, chit chatting about the forum etc

Spot on, Margaret and Mary. Perhaps the newbie posters should actually do their homework and establish the facts about the forum regulars before shooting off their mouths after a mere 25 posts. A simple search of my historical posts would have told Madre all she needed to hear. And as for me, I already have a 'Madre' that loves to give me advice. I don't need a second thank you very much

In the meantime, was 'Madre Gallina' ever planning to show the courtesy of posting in the INTRODUCTIONS section? Would seem like common courtesy prior to taking pot shots at others Rolling Eyes

I'm not even going to lower myself to Madre's level by responding. I meet ignorant, low class people like that on the streets of Tenerife and the U.K all the time. Quite frankly, I thought this forum was better than that.

Apologies to RedSonja for the off-topic sections of this thread. However, if you scroll back up, you'll hopefully see which members were at least attempting to discuss your original post and which simply jumped in with insults whilst making no effort whatsoever to contribute to the thread subject.

I really hope Madre shows up for the forum meet
