Post subject: ADEJE BINMEN !!! |
|
|
The binmen in Adeje (covering part of Las Americas, San Eugenio, Torviscas, Fanabe etc) have now been on strike for over a week. What the hell is going on?? The rubbish is now completely overflowing at our collection point. Pretty soon, its going to start looking like the U.K !!
Then I read that the binmen filed an official complaint (not quite sure how?) against 20 hotels and apartment complexes that had the audacity to arrange their own private rubbish disposal rather than live with the rats and squalor.
I've nothing against legitimate strike action, but to try to stop people from disposing of their own rubbish privately is going a bit far. And then they wonder why the public start to lose sympathy for their cause.
Whatever next? Taxi drivers insisting that the world owes them a living despite cruising around in luxury Mercedes that most of us could never afford to run?? Oh wait sorry, we already have those... _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |

It is getting ridiculous. Some piles I have seen are over 6 feet high now and even the recycling bins just have bags and bags dumped in front of them.

Still no sign of an end to the dispute. I think its a bit much that the binmen were complaining about anyone who arranged a private collection though. I hear they were considering bringing in the army to assist with collections? I'm sure the average soldier will love sifting through our rotting garbage!
If it was in England, I would say that the authorities had engineered such a strike to soften up the population for additional private refuse charges. However surely the Tenerife authorities aren't that cynical?? _________________ Based in Tenerife but have a legal problem in England or Wales? Down the road from where I live there is a huge pile of bin bags, probably about 60 feet wide by about 30 feet deep and about 4 feet high in the middle.
As I drove past, there was a small fire near the front with 3 Guardia Civil watching it. When I came back about half an hour later the Guardia Civil were gone, they was a stream of water running into the road taking germs and bacteria and whatever else with it and the fire was out.
It is getting very bad now and germs and bugs will be spreading like wild fire shortly.

It is absolutely disgusting. we went down to El Puertito on Thursday, which is one of the COLLECTION points....MY GOD it was awful...the smell was so bad all around the beach area, as the wind was blowing. The flies were having a wonderful time.
The skips were over flowing and rubbish was all out in the roads...hardly anyone had used the proper recycling bins either. I was so sad as I Love that beach...
I then read in the canarian weekliy that people had been setting fire to the rubbish at these collections points aswell...NICE _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Other than the resultant smoke or the risk of other things catching fire, a few bonfires will probably be better than leaving all that rubbish to fester. And if nothing else, it might scare someone into doing something about it. _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Now they're only watching me half the time.... |
