Just bought flights from Cardiff.what a rip off. nearly £300 dearer than gatwick and less choice. I know its close to school hols and all that,but be fair
they're even charging £10 per case and 2% charge on debit cards and they're supposed to be as good as cash. It seems there's something extra they hit you with every year. OK, end of rant, at least I'll be over in May. at last! |

dont even go there....we have been trying to get a flight OFF the island...yesterday at the airport they were selling the only flights for 750 euros oneway......
My husband needs to go back for work......
Today I managed to get a flight back to gatwick for 350 euros oneway...and then her comes back here on friday for 40 pounds lol...
Cant believe the prices of flights at the moment its awful....I also need to book flights for june and september..thats even worse...
never mind I will not have to do it much after that lol...

why wont you have to do it much ???
I hade the same probs a week or so ago, to fly to tenerife for a week from Glasgow it was going to cost me £450 each I ended up going from manchester for £170 each.

Did you try clicking on the flythomascook banner above?
Failing that there are very cheap flights to /from Barcelona and Madrid and from those cities to London/Manchester.

Surely for £300 a ticket it would have been worth a coach trip to Gatwick?

hi Rob, welcome back.......
yes I did try the link above and no luck, it getting flights from Scotland it a nightmare hence the reason why I went to Manchester but hey depending on the time of the flights etc I always find its ok going from an english airport on the way out but on the way back its a nightmare, I left Callao at 10am and between flights and a 4hr drive from Manchester to Scotland I didnt get home till 10.30pm, on my own with two kids believe me it was a nightmare..... with " are we nearly there yet ??? " every two mins....... lol
whe you say about cheap flights from Barcelona / Madrid etc I assume thee flights are stop over flights and NOT direct...... I never go for stop over flights either always Direct ones.

Yes you would need to change flights. If you can do it for 48 Euros as a friend just did, wouldn't it be worth it? The savings could buy a lot of things or buy the kids stop watches so that they can see how long before they're there

I have in the past looked at flying from Glasgow to Gatwick then on to Tenerife but didnt have much luck with getting flights to suit and it seemed like a lot of hassle with connections etc
maybe I'll look again, going from say Glasgow to barcelona then barcelona to Tenerife, or Glasgow to madrid then out to tenerife but I doubt it would work out any cheaper, at least not enough to justify the hassle of changing flights.... I'll check and see when I get round to thinking about when Im next coming over. probably either July and / or Christmas and new year......Roll on........ lol

I dont get back to the UK much at all.....maybe once a year if that. Only this year I have a few family things to go to lol...so me and the kids and hubby have to go back a couple of times..

We booked from the banner for neils return a couple of weeks ago...he went out with you I hear...lol and then back on Thomascook.
you should get notification or what ever it is lol....This time though ha had a time span to get to UK and back and thomas cook had no flights. So had to go somewhere else..

Yes, I met this little chap sitting in the corner of the departure lounge supping pints of beer...... and we've probably earnt a few cents for his flight. thx.

I have found a problem trying to get a flight under £400, looked at going to london for a flight with easy jet but the connecting flight takes off 5 mins after we land and it takes about an hour to get from one airport to another, and all I would save is 40 quid

I can't believe the price of flights to Tenerife. Last year, thomsonfly for example were offering flights from £69 one way from Cardiff but this year they seem to be in excess of £120 on way. (nearly double) That is if you are lucky and go off peak!!!!!
Some of the problem is there is not much choice anymore. Airtours / Mytravel/ thomascook are one company now and Thomson/ first choice seem to have hooked up too.
We are coming to Tenerife on Friday and it was cheaper for us to book a package holiday (£45 per person less) than buy the flights. We have our own little holiday home and will not use the accomodation and transfers to PdLA included in the price.
I know the fuel prices have increased considerably but I have never seen a flight from Cardiff to Tenerife go out with any spare seats and indeed they are all sold out for Friday with Thomascook and Thomson.
Bristol, Birmingham and Gatwick are alternatives but by the time you add all the parking, trains, coaches etc required, it isnt that much cheaper.
We need some competition, Bring on easyjet, ryanair or fly for beans (haha)

You can fly for thousands of miles for £120 and you're complaining? 
Should all the staff that you'll use....checkin, baggage handlers, stewardesses, pilots, air traffic control, cleaners etc etc work for nothing? And that's not counting all the thousands of gallons of fuel, wear and tear on the aircraft etc.
Sorry but I find complaining at the cost of flying when it's as cheap as that incredible.
