I like that one too !
and Wild World
and Rubylove (daughter called Ruby !), by Cat Stevens
I have quite a small set of songs at present:-
Fisherman Blues - Waterboys
Lady D'arbarnville - Cat Stevens
Knocking on Heaven Door - Bob Dylan
Working Class Hero - John Lennon
Angie - Rolling Stones
+ 1 of my own songs (am working on more).
I could probably do a half hour set thus far
I'm working on more though. I like songs with a good feel.
Hope to Jam one day with your goodself

Bard of Ely
I meant to say, that I have been on your site and found your music to be very good. I particularly liked "love and communication". Great beat also.

Thank you for checking my songs out!
I do Knockin' on Heavens Door and Working Class Hero too. I have done the former song at El Risco in Los LLanos and the latter classic by Lennon I recorded years ago with a band for a proposed Beatles covers boxed set on a German label but it never happened!
I couldn't play it at Flicks Bar though because of the F-word! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Bard of Ely,
Yeah, Working Class Hero is a great song. I guess you could say "flipping" or "flaming" instead of the F word, but I guess as soon as you start playing around with a song, it looses its impudous (sorry can' spell), and the reason why the original word was put there in the first place. I know James Blunt has fallen foul of this. |

It's the only part of the song a lot of them would like down there too! I remember years ago in a students union where it used to get played over and over so a load of them could all enjoy swearing loudly at that point in the song! Otherwise it's too political and serious for the Flicks crowd. It would work OK up here though - Neil Young and Dylan are both popular in the north. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

yes, I could imagine the students lapping it up.
I think thats where John had the ability to touch us, even in swear words !! The man was an icon in my books, and has a big influence on my music, as I guess he is with yourself, as I can hear lennonisms (sorry not the best word I've ever used) in lots of your lyrics. In fact its quite spooky as it could be the man himself on some of your songs!!!

That's brilliant that you picked up on that - a few other people have said the same thing! It's where I got the idea of doing Stand By Me from too. I like to think I get a bit of help from John from the other side.
Actually I know a Canadian singer-songwriter Daniel Iorio - look for him online - who sounds like Lennon with his voice and phrasing to an amazing degree. And another US musician friend of mine American Lesley Jane claims to be channeling John into his/her songs! Look for Beatlesex! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |
