Hi everyone

I have just found out that my car has been towed cos it hasnt been driven for ages (steve has moved it about a bit but the battery is dead and it needs to go to the garage cos it no longer holds its charge), and the police said that its been towed cos its got no insurance.

I could cry, I really could as there is NOTHING I can do from here. Im stuck, Im not even in a fit enough condition to fly as theres been bl**dy complications from the op.

Apparerntly I should speak to the police at guaza, says steve, but I dont have their number and to be honest I wouldnt have a clue how to explain to them that I was a happily settled citizen there until my other half got murdered in front of me leading to months of police investigation and then having to go under the knife myself for a serious shoulder operation.
I can hardly see the damn screen now, really upset about this.

Do any of you have the number for guaza police, or can anyone help me in any way?
Im desperate, my car is the only thing I have left other than my dog over there and it has stuff in it too that I cant just let them take from me.

If it's been towed away it's probably in the pound on the borders of Las Americas Los Cristianos. Sorry but I don't know their number.

Cheers Rob, yeah, this is what I wondered. I just received a text from steve who said I should try and contact guaza police as they are the wa****s who took it.
But if its at the pound I dont know how I would even start getting it back, or how long they keep it for.

Its so frustrating as steve had put a note on it saying its not abandoned, its still in use, it needs some work done to it and also where we/he lives so Im just so upset they completely ignored it.

Who has told him you should get in touch with the police at Guaza?

I have numbers for different police but not sure which ones you should get in touch with.

PM me your car registration, make, where it was parked, etc and I will see if I can find something out.

Steve, my ex, who still lives there sent me a text this morn saying it had been towed cos had no insurance and he suggested I try and call guaza police station.

if it's been towed for no insurance I believe that you'll be fined quite heavily as its a serious offence to have a car on the road with no insurance. You'll also have to insure it before you can claim it back and then pay the fine for towing away (about 90 Euros) plus a daily charge for keeping it in the pound so don't put off dealing with it. Sorry to give you bad news.

Oh no!
I dont believe it. I never even thought about insurance being necessary to have it parked up.

This is so difficult, 2000 miles away and no way of doing anything

could you renew the insurance over the phone with a card...then it will be covered and you should be able then to get the car back...after the fees are paid.

Before you do anything I suggest that you contact this man. He knows all the right people and is very good at sorting problems. Obviously he will need paying but his fees are usually reasonable, he's local but speaks excellent English. I know that he's in London at the moment but will be back in Tenerife on Monday. I phoned him and explained the situation and he says if you want to use him he can do it.
