Hi Zoe and welcome to our forum. If you don't wish to take heed of our advice what more can we say?
Why isn't our advice an option?
You can get a cheap last minute package holiday to give you the chance to be kept for two weeks while job/apartment hunting and with parents already living here what's the problem? _________________ .

Hi Zoe, welcome, you should really take heed of the advice given, are your parents still in Tenerife or back in England, could they not give you advice? _________________ Failures don't plan to fail, they fail to plan

Hi Zoe and welcome...
ou may find that a last minute cheap deal is actually cheaper than a one way flight at the moment.
Flights are so expensive at present so that would be an idea...you also will have the week or 2 to find an apartment which shouldnt be hard at all. You need not even think about using the return flight...
Could your parents not find you an apartment first...theres loads advertised in local newspapers.
Jobs may be harder to find depending on what you want to do....or what you are prepared to do....lol
Good luck _________________ Find out more at www.myspacetenerife.com

Or if you don't want to spend the money could your parents not let you sleep on their sofa for a week or so until you find an apartment. It really isn't hard to find one.
Re. getting a job: unless you have an amazing CV then you are unlikely to find work until you get here. Or if your parents have good contacts perhaps they can find you something as they could vouch for you, even if this was only temporary. Too many people say they want to come over but don't in the end or only stay for a few weeks so employers have to be careful. _________________ Who am I? Welcome to the forum Zoe. Ok, here's the tough questions/comments to make you think long and hard about what you are doing. Please don't take offence at any of these.
Firstly, if neither you or your boyfriend have enough money to take a 2 week holiday here prior to moving permanently, then quite frankly, you do not have enough money to move here. The first few weeks/months will be the most expensive. Do NOT come here unless you have at least 4 figures in savings to keep you going for a few weeks.
Does your boyfriend actually work in England? I only ask because you say you are working 2 jobs and yet you apparently don't even have enough money for a return flight to Tenerife. If he doesn't work in England, there is little chance he will bother getting a job in Tenerife. If he does work, I guarantee that his job, combined with your own ability to obviously work hard, will earn you both enough money here to put a roof over your heads, put food on the table and leave enough over for the occasional night out.
I also don't understand why if your parents are here, why they are not helping you. Even if they can't provide financial help, anyone living here for more than a year could easily answer ALL the questions you are asking and would provide an emotional safety net for when you arrive.
Finally, if you don't speak Spanish (and 95% of people who come on this forum don't) then you will find everything twice as difficult and expensive when you do eventually arrive.
There, you now have the difficult questions to think about. I honestly hope you can come up with the right answers and make a life for yourself here, but I really don't think you've given this nearly enough thought so far. _________________ My Paranoia-Management Therapy is going great! Good advice, take it all in Zoe.
You will be glad you did in the long run.
This forum will give you the facts, it may not be what you want to hear but it will be reality. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

"x" times ditto......................................................especially in today's climate.
From what I can ascertain, you're going about it the wrong way; and, as others have mentioned, why are your parents not giving you the information you need?
Doing it your way may well end up in tears/recriminations/accusations, etc..
Even a four figure sum can disappear quickly in Tenerife, even if it is (where's that !!**!!*!*!*!! £ sign), got it, £9999.00.
This may seem hard, but the advice given IS for your benefit and well being on the island.
By the way, I didn't check the date of your post, so you may well be there by now, if so, do give a lot of thought to the replies you have received, especially by the people who live there..................THEY should know !!!! |
