Post subject: Social Security Numbers |
|
|
I am a joiner, I understand that if you get a contract, the employer pays the Social Security(taxes), if I go self employed, would I have to get a Social Security Number, and pay on what I earn. Would it be better to get these when we get there anyway, before we get jobs. We already have our NIE number
Thanks |

If you get a contract, normally the company will sort out your Social Security number and pay the quotas for you. Social Security is the Health Service (not taxes) and entitles you to medical attention. If you become self-employed you will have to pay a gestor/accountant to sort it all out for you and you will have to pay approximately 200 Euros per month.
If you don't work and try to get a Social Security number they will give you one that is not 'dado de alta' so basically isn't valid. _________________ "Cleaning your house while the kids are still growing is like shoveling your drive while it's still snowing."...Phyllis Diller |
