Ruigómez, which is just past El Tanque, is a perfect example of the greenery of the north and a place where both wildlife and farming can do well. There are loads of butterflies there but none would stop still long enough for me to get a photo. I saw Meadow Browns and Speckled Woods.
There is a Guanche theme park there too, or rather there was because the buildings that went with it have gone derelict as have the grounds and all that is left of its past glory is the sign at the roadside. I suppose it was too out of the way to get the visitors, although the camel centre just a few kilometres down the road is doing OK.
Here are some views of Ruigómez:
A country road on the way to Ruta del Agua.
Grass, bracken, brambles and wild flowers - butterfly country
Maize and cabbages
Part of the Guanche park sign
Flowers and a cross _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

That first photo could almost be a little village in the hills of Wales! I am definitely going to have to make a trip up north soon to all these places you talk of Bard.
If I were to go up there for a day or perhaps a weekend (with a night camping) which places should I put at the top of my list? I still want to go and meet Em and Fernando but where else would you advise? _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17
I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be. |

When the bruma started it got as cold as Wales too - I could see my breath!
Yes, there is a lot that reminds me of Wales even where I live - I hear choir practice some days. The unspoiled parts of the north remind me of Wales as it was when I was a kid.
Besides Fernando and Emily you ought to pay a call on Nia and Robbi in Cueva del Viento. Fernando and Em have music sessions going on every Sunday now with Nico and friends - the guitarist/singer from El Risco.
Two places I recommend are Los Silos and Aguamansa for very different flavours of the north - coastal town and mountain village. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Bard, those pictures really are the opposite of what people think the Tenerife Landscape is like.
Thanks for posting them for us, we really must make a trip up north next time we are over. _________________ Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. |

There are many Tenerife landscapes and sadly a lot of people don't see or know about most of them! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |
