Post subject: Art groups in South Tenerife |
|
|
Hello, we are not settled into our new life in the sun and I have recently taken up art as a hobby after a gap of around 20 years. I would like to meet other people with the same interests as me. Does any one know if there are any art groups or low cost classes in the south of the island? _________________ Live your life before its too late! |

Hi Jen Bray,
I am not yet moved to Tenerife and cannot directly answer your question, which interests me as well.
Have you seen deviantART on the web? It is a virtual community of artists. _________________

Post subject: Called to the Islands |
|
|
Hey Jen,
There is a "high degree of certainty" that I will move to the islands in October.
I have been living a mobile life esp. since 2000 and follow intuition and synchronicity, which has more than once meant changing plans at the last minute. So my partner and I tell people we have no plans, only ideas.
But we are feeling called to the Canaries, as we were called to this area of northern Germany last year. We didn't know then the reasons, but learned there is a stone labyrinth near our apartment, and it has been a central point of inspiration and vision for my writing and photography.
And you? What is your story? |

Hi and nice to hear from you
Nothing so exciting about me I'm afraid. Just a wife, mum etc. I am a qualified accountant (I know so boring) but have always liked art. Tenerife is definately a great place to live. We have been here permanently now since December 07 and live above Adeje, 10 minutes from the beach. Though we have been coming here for a couple of years on a regular basis.
Our main reason for moving was to follow a more laidback lifestyle and to have a change of career. Just so fed up of being a boring accountant! Ultimately want to spend more time painting etc now we are getting established here.
It would be nice to meet you when you come over, keep in touch. I am going to set up an art blog in the next couple of days, will send you the link when its finshed. _________________ Live your life before its too late! |

Hi Jen,
Accounting isn't necessarily boring, is it?
My wife and I have a saying, 'It's not what I do but how I do it.'
That is, we practice bringing quality of attention to whatever we are doing.
Our personalities may resist, but we have a higher life quality ourselves when we focus on the how rather than the what.
Apologies for the philosophical bent.
Yes, I would like a link to your art expression. You can click on the Web Site button below my post here, to go to Acts of Peace which has my stories, poems, photography and an art event I am hosting. |

Without contracdicting myself I would agree that its not exactly the accounting that is boring, it was just the lifestyle I was leading, working all the time on a seemingly endless quest to be mega successful. I worked in a little office at home and my daughter complained that she never saw me!
Funny really because once I got where I thought I wanted to be in my career I realised I didn't want it anymore! _________________ Live your life before its too late! |

I understand how you could reach the place in your career where you thought you wanted to be, then realize you didn't want it anymore.
What is the striving all about anyway?
We each have a lifetime, whether short or long, whether it is unique or one of many lifetimes. If we live just to accumulate, or to accomplish, what is that at the end?
That is why I like to focus on being, rather than having or doing. |
