Post subject: La Victoria and La Matanza – two towns of Tenerife North |
|

La Victoria and La Matanza are two neighbouring towns in Tenerife's north of historic importance as an area of note in the battles between the Spanish and the Guanches. Today besides being busy towns they are also part of the best grape-growing farmland.
Here are some photos:

thanks for posting that.
we intend to explore the north a bit when we are in tenerife this winter.
we will look these places up on the map and see if we can get there (just public transport - which we prefer for all sorts of reasons) |

They are all easy to get to on the bus. La Victoria and La Matanza are on the regular 101 route from Puerto de la Cruz to Santa Cruz. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Good pictures again Bard,
Thanks for posting.
We must get to exploring the North.
I promise we will do so when we get to live on the island, but when we are on holidays we haven't got around to it yet. _________________ Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. |

Thank you, Mary!
You will find it is very different to the south! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

And if you're anything like me, you will probably have less time once you live here. I keep meaning to go up north one weekend but never get around to it. _________________ Who am I? Find out more here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=17
I will make this day a happy one for I alone can determine what kind of day it will be. |

I totally understand that, Jenny! I often have to make time and do a very quick visit somewhere - gets some photos, make some notes, a brief wander round and get a bus out of the place. People who don't live here think that those of us who do can spend lots of our time on beaches or out in the sun but the reality is very different. I spend most of my time in front of my PC! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

if you are in front of it now , bardofely, can you advise my old man of any good jamming sessions in the south that he might enjoy. he used to go regularly on sunday afternoons in san blas but the pub was taken over and goes in for lapdancing now i believe!!! i'll try to keep him away from that.
seriously, the only thing he is not happy about when spending winter in tenerife is that there seems to be nowhere for him to play (drums but not too loudly) - jazz, blues are favourites but he can turn his hand to anything.
realise this is the wrong place to write this - sorry bout that. |

Brujas bar behind the Repsol garage just past El Fraile have a monthly jam session as far as I know. It used to be the last Friday of the month and has a proper stage so drum kits are fine there! Kicks of very late and closes around 3 am.
There's also an underground live rock club somewhere in El Médano but I don't know the address. _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Ah Jenny,
I know what you mean about not finding time to do some of the things you want to do.
We are supposed to be moving to Tenerife to retire there, but to hear most retired people talk, they still don't seem to have time to do things.
It must be a case of slowing down and taking twice as long to do the everyday things when you are not working.
I always like the one where they say they don't know how they ever found time to go to work, lol
Anyway I hope we do get to do some exploring _________________ Growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. |
