Its amazes me how many of my 'friends' in Tenerife are now flocking back to the UK. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised the reality of drinking everyday has to loose its appeal eventually!! Mind I'm not complaining more reason for me to actually do something at the weekends when I'm not working, I tend to stay in the house and sit on the net - literally lol _________________ facebook me - esmahan hassan |

Ezzy,
Forgive me for asking and to save me trawling back through the 100's or 1000's of posts on this forum....but when I first joined this forum (April 2007) was it not you that was working in a supermarket in Callao?
If it was you......I seem to remember you going through the missing your family thing and not understanding the language thing etc. etc. Which may explain others returning to the UK or it may be the decline in available work for 'non-natives' on the reef.
If it wasn't you, sorry I've got confused with someone else, not unusual at my age
Tenerife does seem to be very transient though certainly in the more touristy places for the non-natives'. That follows on from other comments by people about real friends in Tenerife. This may be true of other Holiday destinations (and I couldn't comment because I don't know) but certainly it is very evident in Tenerife. _________________

I simply said it in light of many of the people I knew out there were adamant in the fact they wouldn't be leaving Tenerife for at least a year but within months of me leaving their back. Having people harp on at me, bewildered as to why I would want to leave soon became something they felt they wanted to do as well. So that's why I was surprised.
Yup I use to work in Callao missing friends and family _________________ facebook me - esmahan hassan |

I wonder if after you returned to the UK they too experienced what ever it was that caused you to return. When they were so adament it is as you say rather strange
Have you been able to ask any of them why they returned? Perhaps unable to get work or missing family...after a while they may have decided enough was enough.
Could it be that after you left Tenerife they were just missing you sooooooo much _________________

Well Andy I can only assume the latter is of course true, it makes a lot of sense
I think for many 'proper jobs' as they put it comes out on top and the reality of drinking, partying etc everyday is not a reality - but an experience no less haha.
With the UK being in most my 'friends' cases their native home was found the easiest way to obtain work and many returned to the UK to go back to previous jobs.
Personally I feel you need to be that bit more mature to 'stick it out' anywhere abroad. Though that isn't to say it isn't possible for the younger generation to stay abroad.

A lot of people come home this time of year though dont they when they realise how little money they will have to live on through the winter. I think you did really well Ezzy to stay so long |

And so do I.
Well done for having a go Ezzy, at least you are not sat there thinking goodness I wish I had given living in Tenerife a go. You did and it did not work out....this time !!
Anyone that, wants to, and gives moving abroad a try, good on you. If you have no commitments then go for it.
For me personally if wee ones are involved its a whole new ball game and you want to be 120 per cent sure you are doing the right thing, and can make it work no matter what. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com
