I've been reading (and hearing) lots of conflicting reports about the future of property prices on the island. Canarian Connections newspaper recently did an article about how prices were already overvalued and that there would be a downwards adjustment towards the end of the year. Other sources claim prices will continue to climb at 10 - 15% p.a throughout 2006 as they generally have done for the past 5 years. One estate agent has suggested that smaller properties typically purchased by the UK market remain strong but larger villas and townhouses are struggling to meet the asking price. Does anyone have a crystal ball, or perhaps just fancies giving their 5 cents worth on this one?

Price inflation in Spain has cooled, but still remains at 13.4% released by the Minister of Housing at the end of 2005. In some areas it is most defiantly a buyers market and prices could well stagnate in the future. This is obviously down to oversupply, more and more investors pushing constructors to meet no demand. Spain is building as many properties as the UK, France and Germany combined, despite a smaller population and economy.

Wow, that's interesting that the property inflation is still that high. Looking around on the property websites, I think I'd agree that its a buyers market, as the same properties seem to be coming up as were advertised 3 months ago! I'm not sure there's any evidence of prices dropping yet, so hard haggling is probably the order of the day...
