I will reserve judgement on the Parque until after my hols in November.....

One thing however I am pleased to hear is that Siam is irrigated by the same desalinated sea water that is used on the slides to avoid depleting the island's precious reservoirs.

I raised this point earlier in the year and asked the question why on earth were they creating another water based theme park so near to Aquapark, with a comodity so precious to Tenerife?

Now if it were in the UK we have loads to spare................. Laughing

That would be the logical line of thought, although from reading the posts in this thread, they have purposely waited to launch the park when they felt it was right to do so.

Even to the point of waiting until the fauna grew sufficently to hide the structures, and delivery receipt of a wooden elephant, fully aware that the delay would miss the European summer market as the kids head back to school?

Not the thinking of a money grabbing venture, more like a long term statement.

It depends on whether you believe all that you're told or read!

Sorry

I don't believe that load of nonsense. They are in it to make money, I definitely agree with Rob on this one. I am a cynic, I don't believe they would delay opening for a couple of bushes and an elephant. It was a joke right Zappa, I don't think anyone fell for that lot of tosh

Wink

Personally I don't care whether it opened 6 months ago or 6 months from now, I come to Tenerife for the sun / scenery & culture

What I suspect is Mr. Wolfgang Kiessling & his team know exactly what they are doing and no doubt this is 'Marketing Hype' to do exactly what we are doing now!

Why did they keep issuing press statements promising unrealistic opening deadlines? Well, as they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity Rolling Eyes

Still, its obviously a huge asset to South Tenerife now that it's here. If it brings more attention and visitors to our little isla, I for one will not be complaining.

And best of all? Tenerife Solicitors has provided 3 free tickets for the winner of this month's forum prize to go and enjoy the park for themselves.

The only condition? You have to come back and tell us all what it was like.

I am coming back out in 8 weeks time and I will be happy to tell everyone exactly what I think of the place. Yes it can only be good for the Island. I am hoping all the delays have made it really spectacular and safe!

Will any of you self righteous residents tell us tourists why it's alright to rip us off to the tune of 25E but it's far too much for you to pay?

I personally think it is far to expensive even for NON residents.

There was talk that the price was to be a lot lower for both.

BUT on the side of a residents...The wages are lower here and the cost of living is relevant to that. Plus we may also want to have a relaxing day at the water parks on our day off lol...

BUT still they are very expensive and I tend to go to these places after we have saved loads of money lol knowing that we have visitors normally instills this for us.

As a 'self-righteous resident' (???), I don't mind telling a 'presumptious tourist' that some of us don't agree with the concept for discounts for residents. I believe that everyone should enjoy the same fair low price.

The practice is also illegal under European Law, but Spain are notorious for favouring their own and will only back down if they are dragged kicking and screaming before the courts. (e.g. they were recently forced to scrap the ridiculously high capital gains tax for non-residents).

The only residents discount that I can see any possible justification for is the travel discount for Canary Island residents, as there was at least an historical argument that poorer Canarians living in these outlying areas should have their travel subsidised when trying to reach the mainland. I don't see why it should apply between Tenerife and La Gomera though.

Self righteous? That's a little strong isn't it?

Nobody is 'ripping you off', if you don't wish to pay the price then don't go. If you wish to go then pay the price or build your own and play all day for nothing Wink

I will tell you why, its not rocket science. You come over 1, 2 or even 3 times a year? Most people come over once.

We are here all year and if the price was right we would probably go once or twice every couple of months.

That way the owners would get some continuity and cash injection from the resident population. If the price is too much which it is, then they will not.

Nothing to do with ripping off Dave. Get over it. And once again the wages here in comparison to the UK ARE A LOT LOWER, did you not know that. Give some resident kids a chance to enjoy it if the parents can afford it, and at 25 euros a head, most cannot.

They are only offering a 3 euro reduction for residents. WOW, not exactly a great incentive to go. I go out 2-3 times a year but other waterparks in Europe offer better incentives to residents, I used to get half price tickets to aqua city in Majorca. At quiter times of the year they would be better offering tickets for 10 euros to residents to use the facilities, restaurants, bars etc than have it half empty not generating any income.

I am not a business person but it seems like common sense

Remember it is brand new so who knows what offers there'll be when we get to the quieter times.
