I do agree with you Rob and Tenerife Solicitors.
I work in an office and am always careful about spelling and punctuation, but as this a social site I tend to relax a bit.
I must be careful from now on in case I need a job when I get to Tenerife.

OK OK OK
I am starting to agree with you Rob.
I shall start Making my I's Capitals, I shall also read what I have written before I submit it.
I admit that I am very lazy when it comes to typing...normally I type in text language, however Mary did inform me that I had to type correctly on this forum. Don't get me wrong I am now coming around and I think that it is the best thing... otherwise people may not be able to understand what you have put and then that is just a wasted space and you have wasted time writing it.
I shall be better from now on... well at least try _________________ Beth |

Good girl, now I won't have to spank your bottom when we meet! Those extra few seconds spent ensuring that your post needs no translation were seconds that were very well spent. Keep up the good work, we may yet convince the 'others'. _________________ .

I have a white collar job (admittedly in the UK) and my spelling is far from perfect. But I assume you mean white collar job in Tenerife. At least I speak the language of the country I work in and I expect a lot of applicants for jobs in Tenerife have not even bothered to learn Spanish.
I am another one that agrees with Rob and Tenerife Solicitors that a 'couldn't care less' attitude is assumed by others, of individuals when their spelling and / or grammar is atrocious. We all have the odd typo though _________________

Don't worry Andy, I wasn't suggesting that those who make a few minor spelling mistakes can't hold down a white collar job, I'm sure you're good at what you do. Even I make the occasional mistake when I'm typing in a hurry. Most people relish in pulling me up over them when I do!
And your posts are excellent compared to a lot on here anyway _________________ Legal Solutions both in Tenerife and in England or Wales? Tenerife Solicitors can assist from our offices in San Eugenio, Tenerife and in Kent, U.K. Visit www tenerifesolicitors com |

I'm glad someone open the discussion because for me it's sometimes hard to understand what I'm reading. My English is not fluent: I understand, I can speak and write English but not as my native language and besides bad spelling (I'm not saying my English is good but I have no one to correct me!) I must deal with the new abbreviations & expressions (messenger style...).
Even if I don't post, I read everyday old or new posts. |

A big thank you to you mav23iul. Another very good reason for not using text speak and taking care with our spelling and grammar. We know from our stats (site visitor statistics) that we get visitors from all over the world but especially from European countries where English is not the first language. There are far more 'readers' than 'writers' on this forum. _________________ .

For nothing, Rob and I hope you understand that my post wasn't for criticise somebody...
And when you think now I'm trying to learn Spanish too! (and my English is far away to be fluent) That's it!

I have missed this forum! I wish I had more time to get on here.... lol!!
I have to agree with Rob and you all, although I am far from an angel sometimes, a glass of wine too many and watching TV at the same time does make 'typos'....
Funky's comments about dyslexia are true, I got told I was 'dyslexic' when I went to college; doing my A-Levels after years of being top set for English and a straight A student in English.
I read lots of literature to prove them wrong and they sent me to an educational psychologist, a days full of tests etc and they came back to say that I had, built a 'strategy from an early age' to deal with it, which is why high school had not picked up on it nor had I 'struggled'. They named my strategy... a verbal Sequential Learning Ability.
Funky's example of 'There, Their' was a good one, as when growing up and learning the difference between these I remembered by making my own 'rule',
Their = belonging to them - 'They Have Everything In Rucksacks'
There = a place - HERE...
If that makes sense, it does to me ! lol
So we can't all be perfect but Funky is right, there are ways to teach yourself ...
I still get things wrong, and always will do, but I will learn from them....

A little will power and a little effort go a long way. Of course it's far easier to say "I can't"
As my Mum used to say there's no such word as can't. _________________ .

It's a shame there's not more of this attitude in the youth of today!!! Don't get me started on that
I'm sure parents these days have changed that saying to 'Just tell them you can't do it, they can't make you. It's a breach of your human rights if they try' _________________
