Well, thanks for asking but it's hard to say! I played down Flicks first and that went well as usual and everyone I told I was going to enter for the X-Factor thought I'd get it, no problem and so did I!
However, pride goes before a fall, and although I had added purple dye to my hair and regreened my beard, put on a colourful shirt, made sure my guitar was in tune, got the bus to get there in time and succeeded finding the venue OK, when I got my guitar out for a soundcheck I discovered, horror of horrors, that the nut at the hole for the jackplug lead had fallen off so I wouldn't be able to use my lead. To repair this means taking all the strings off and getting your hand inside to hold the connection in place while you screw the bolt back on and then restringing and tuning up the guitar!

I tried asking if there was a spare mic to mic the guitar up but the compere said the only other one was the one he was using and I couldn't have that. Another contestant called James very kindly said I could borrow his electric but pointed out it was set up with tone controls to sound how he wanted it. I had no other option but to accept his offer. I had to go on after him too so couldn't have a chance to play around getting the sounds right and when I started no sound was coming out at all which must have looked very unprofessional and all of it went on video tape to be judged later.

I did, however, get the audience to give me a Yee-hah where required in the chorus of my song Superhero and I did get 2 of them up on stage to help me out with Stand by Me and I did get told I sang really well but whether I had the X factor remains to be seen!

I was definitely the most unique act there and with the most X-Factor look so I am in with a chance despite the problems. We will have to wait and see if I get through to the heats in April now! Wish me luck - I need it now!

sounds like you had a few hiccups but then sorted it out.....as they say the show must go on..............and it sounds like you may well have pulled it off.
