Sorry to metion Christmas so early.
I was wondering what the best time of year to come over if I was wanting to get some singing work for the Christmas period.
Thanks

How about.... just before xmas Flights are usually cheap up to early/mid Dec but apartments are hard to get unless you book early. _________________ .

...and I may be completely wrong but if I were a venue owner I would have my entertainment booked well before Xmas.
I would say most of Tenerife's top acts / singers are booked up already. _________________ Need a cleaner in South Tenerife ? Cleaning just got better... www.maid4tenerife.com

I agree, top acts will be booked long before but an unknown who doesn't live on the Island? As a bar owner I wouldn't book an act that I wasn't sure would come to the Island bearing in mind the price of flights apartments/hotels etc at xmas. There are bar owners who leave it till the last minute or get let down by the acts. _________________ .

A good idea but bars change hands quite frequently so don't pin your hopes on any promises of work for the following year. _________________ .

I'd echo what Rob has posted and add that it's no different up in the north where bars also close down and change owners.
Good luck though! _________________ Find out more about me here: http://www.myspacetenerife.com/index.php?page=view_profile&id=10 |

Thanks for the welcomeRob.
Just been trying to get through the year of Hell.
I spent one and a half hours last night, (well, early morning, as is usual for me), typing, (grrrrrrr !!!!!!!), what's been happening this year, and when it said submit, etc., I pressed the button to not view the post.
On returning to the page ......... no post. (If anybody has received it inadvertently, my apologies.)
Here is the short version:-
Band needed guitarist quick......6 days.
Learned 31 songs then played the following Saturday. No rehearsals, no meetings, they hadn't heard me play, what I looked like, etc..
Made 2 mistakes.
They have a big repertoire and we're still going through them. Still no rehearsals. They tell me the new songs, we play them at the gig.
The two cancers in the family.
The brother in law with throat cancer, (but it's not the ciggies !!!!).
(The signs are that he's in the clear,....will find out on Thursday).
The wonderful sis in law who has lived in Tenerife for the past 15 years and who is in hospital right now trying to sleep before she has her mastectomy operation first thing this morning and who is only a mere youngster of 50.
Again, as we heard earlier on last night, things are looking good, as per the follow ups regarding chemo, radiotherapy, etc..
There have been other things but as I hate typing you'll just have to make something up for yourselves. (!!!!)
(And now, a totally useless fact to throw around at whatever the next little soiree is that you're invited to:- when I email, it's quicker for me to record and edit, (and add a nice backing track) what I want to say to somebody, rather than typing. Does the forum accept mp3s..................................................??????????
Regards to all. |

That's a bummer, best of luck to all your family and I hope that 2009 turns out to be a lot better for all of you.
MP3....great idea but no can do.
Always, always when typing long scripts, use word and save the work at regular intervals as you work and then copy and paste to e-mail, forum etc. _________________ .

Thanks Rob and Margaretbl.
Amazingly, sis in law came out of hospital yesterday, (Thursday), and is now staying with us, away from screaming grandkids, chaos, etc., and will be here for however long it takes for her to feel OK. She is very much up, although the hospital did say this weekend will be the telling point. But it's looking really good.
She became calmer after going to the hospital last week where everything was explained to her.
(It's always the not knowing that seems to be the worst).
Rob, I knew you would offer some good advice re the typing thingy, (and I thank you for that), but, being so annoyed at losing my post from Tuesday..!!!! (early Wednesday morning), which had a lot more info in it, you weren't to know that, as regards my typing hatred, when gorgeous long haired daughter, (step) ,......................(and before anybody gets the wrong idea, this description came from when we had cats and they were regarded as family, ie., daughters , (and we had to distinguish one from another), that's the name she ended up with.
With her not knowing what to get me for Xmas, I suggested to Mum a little Panasonic Voice Recorder, with speech to text software so I can speak and record, then it will convert/print it to text !!!!
Fandabidozi, as little Janette would say.
I am currently trying it out, (one has to make sure it works, or it will have to go back , and be replaced), and things are looking good on the no-typing scenario.
(By the way Magaretbl, have you been to Clearance Bargains, up in Stanley? If not, they're a clearing store for Argos, and you can save a fortune if you're not looking to have the latest model available per product).
So, my/our thanks to you both for your concern. Thank you.
PS:- I didn't think the forum could accept mp3s, ....................oh well, you'll just have to miss out on my chatty little messages then, so don't be cross with yourself !!!!. |
