hello all!

I am relocating to tenerife next month. I was wondering what satellite television programming is like for american sports fanatic?

Any comments would be appreciated.

The best people for information on satellite tv in Tenerife is Miller Rental there telephone number is (0034) 922 721261.
They sell a package called Orbit which has I think 4 channels dedicated to american sports.

... You can also get about half the sky channels. Millar will not supply a sky card. You can bring yours out here and it will work but dont tell sky or they will have to cut you off. If you do bring it you must retain a UK address at which the card is registered with sky and continue to pay them via a UK bank. If you have had sky for less than one year you will need to have it plugged into your phone line. To do this in Tenerife and not get found out by Sky's systems you will need a dialer which tells sky your on a UK phone line (it lies basically)

We are too far away from the satellite to recieve all the sky channels inc BBC and ITV, C4 & 5 with a small dish. But a 90cm one will pick half of the others

There is also a company with a massive dish that re-broadcasts BBC ITV etc, and will rent / sell you a reciever and aerial to get the pictures. Check the press for details when you get here.

Im not going to push one retailer or another. There are a few of them in the local English press.

Orbit has more than 4 channels including BBC Prime. However Sky is a better bet. (IMO Sara!)

If you are moving to a complex you will most likely receive satalite tv with a number of sports channels, there is usually no charge for this.

You can also get NASN nort american sports network on Sky.
Call Premier Satellite on 637 05 05 05 they sorted it for us, All the American sports.
