Captain and Vice Captain's challenge 2004/2005

Captain Ian Sharp and his vice Captain Eddi Greygoose had issued a challenge to any pair wishing to play them in a monthly better ball competition. The results of which were eight wins to the Captain and vice captain, one halved match, one loss at one down and one loss at two down. A pretty formidable record for any future teams issuing the challenge. The best win for an opposing team was that of Janet Stanley and Maureen Lillico the team that managed the two and one win. Not taking anything away from the ladies but it does prove the point that playing the ladies at match play on Amarilla Golf course is very difficult with the number of holes on the front nine that the ladies have big advantages over the men. Once the ladies have a good lead it means that the men have to play attacking golf whilst the ladies can steadily play for halves. I'll probably get my ears boxed for this but it is the general feeling amongst the men.

Congratulations to the ladies and they did tell me that they have repeated their performance in this year's tournament although only by one up this time!
