Amarilla Golf Captain’s Letter

Dear Member:

Well this is my final newsletter as Captain and I must say there is a tinge of sadness as I write.

My thanks go to all the members for their support during the year and the same applies to my Committee and non-committee helpers. I will now give you the competition news to bring you up to date. Click for news

Sponsors - on behalf of the Club a big thank you to all of the sponsors- Your support and generosity are much appreciated by the club – please keep up the good work.

Moving on to a more serious note would all members please note that UP TO DATE HANDICAP CRTFICATES AND PLAYING RECORDS must be provided on your return to Amarilla Golf. Failure to do so will mean that you are ineligible to receive a winner’s prize.

Slow Play – the dreaded Slow Play rears its ugly head again. Please, please, please when playing in a competition keep up with the people in front. Forget what is happening behind just keep up.

New score cards which will be used when the refurbished holes are open (the old 7, 8 and 9) show a start and finish time on them. These times must be filled in the space provided for all competitions. I am sorry to have to mention this again but it really is becoming ridiculous when so many of our members suffer because of one or two slow players. If in doubt about your tee shot, hit a provisional right away and this will speed things up.

Captain´s Charity

Throughout my year as everyone is aware, my charity has been K9 and on Thursday, 7th July the president of K9, Elsie Clinton Leslie came along to Amarilla Golf and along with several of our canine friends in attendance we presented a cheque to Elsie for €850. Well done everybody.

Because of the Tsunami disaster we also managed to send €900 from collections and a further €500 from the club.

Now the time has come to wish Eddi all the best in his year as Captain so I now carefully light the blue touch paper, stand well clear and launch Eddi into his year of Captaincy.

Finally I would personally like to thank Eduardo and Fernando and all their staff for all their help and consideration throughout my year as Captain.

Happy golfing
Ian C Sharp (Has Been)

Letter from the Incoming Captain Mr E J Greygoose

Dear Members, just a quick note to add to Ian Sharp´s last Captain´s report. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed working with Ian over the last year and hope that some of his good habits have rubbed off onto me. My term of office runs up to the end of April 2006 and your new Committee have prepared all the dates for the major tournaments that will be taking place during my ýear´. Please find attached a copy of these dates together with the fixture list for next three months.

I trust that I will be able to speak to, and play with, as many members as possible during my Captaincy and I look forward to seeing you all at Amarilla. I promise that I will do my utmost to promote the Club and to maintain the very good work already started by previous Captains.
