Residents versus Swallows 2006

Amarilla Golf Club held the annual Residents versus Swallows (this year known as ‘the rest’) on Sunday 19th February 2006, it was as usual a better ball format with Alan Watson as Captain of the Residents and John Brockbank as Captain of the Swallows. The competition was as fierce and yet friendly as ever with many stories of triumphs and woes, some 59 players took to the field (one resident unfortunately being injured and unable to play at the last minute, his partner despite heroic attempts was unable to manage on his own and was one of the few Resident losses). The golf was followed by lunch in the clubhouse and a short speech of congratulations from John, Captain of the Swallows and (for once!) a short speech of thanks and commiserations from Alan, Captain of the Residents.

As usual this was a good day, enhanced by the camaraderie and good spirits of Amarilla Golf Club members. Oh yes the result; as usual a resounding win for the Residents by 10 to 4.
