Amarilla Golf Captain’s Letter
My term as captain is three quarters complete – In the sense of a round of golf I have just come off the 13th green and am walking towards the 14th fairway.
We have now reached the end of the really busy spell with many of the Majors having been played since my last letter. The results and photos for these can be seen by clicking on the menu to the left.
Captains Day (sponsored by C Agerskov, M Samson and J Cowan).
Having had a sleepless week worrying about whether and if the competition would actually go ahead, much to my relief we managed to play without any rain. I would like to thank everyone for playing in the very strong wind – although it was more like a gale. A good day was had by all and my thanks go to everyone for their help and support. Due to the success of the raffle and ‘naming the bear’ we have sent a cheque for 900 Euros to the Tsunami Relief Appeal. There were several prizes on the day but pride of place went to Jan Masters – well done Jan.

As the season draws to a close one or two swallows are beginning to leave and we are now starting to wind down for the summer period and as my year is drawing to a close I hope you have all enjoyed yourselves – I have had a great time and thanks to everyone for all their support during the year.
On a more serious note, in my Captain’s Report from the January Committee Meeting it was stated that handicap certificates are only valid for a period of three months and therefore anyone coming over for a holiday should ensure that they bring their up to date handicap certificate and playing record. Please remember we are only allowed to have ONE handicap. Please also remember that as Amarilla are now on the Clongu system we can forward copies of your handicap in Tenerife to your home club in England. Vouchers will not be issued under any circumstances unless a current handicap certificate is produced. Already this year on two or three occasions we have had to give the vouchers to the person with a valid handicap certificate rather than to the actual winner.
NB.As from Thurs 21st April we are reverting back to Thursday comps.
Ian Sharp. Captain.
