North v South – 3rd April
The one that we all look forward to but which was won yet again by the North captained by Alan Watson. Not a good result as I captained the South – but well done the North. Looking forward to next year´s battle.
Margot Moffatt – 10th April
This was won by Ray Massey and the presentation was made by the Vice Captain due to my having too much “lemonade” the night before.
St George´s Flag Day – 24th April
This is our regular flag competitionwhich was won by Lewis Bickerton,. The presentation was held on the terrace and thanks go to Jeff and Pan Cowan for organising a tasty buffet afterwards.
Anniversary Trophy – 8th May
First of all I must thank the Tavio family for sponsoring this competition which was won by Alan Booth. Again this was well supported and the presentation was held on the terrace.
Augusta Park Trophy – 22nd May
Many thanks to Roy Cottrell for sponsoring this competition again and for the superb barbeque and an array of lovely prizes. This is the first time that this competition has been held in May and it proved to be just as successful as it has been when it was held in January. The first place gent went to Geoff Bickerton and the first place lady was Jan Masters
Bryan´s Birthday Bash – 26th June
Happy 70th Brian. The format of this competition was a Texas Scramble with a shotgun start and the winners were Pam Roe, Les Perry & Adrian Gracey. The presentation was held on the terrace following beans, bangers and “bashed” potatoes. Well done Bryan and we´re looking forward to the next.
30th June saw my Drive Out and Eddi´s Drive In. This was a yellowsome for the men played off the reds and a greensome for the ladies also played off the reds (who was the masochist?) The winners of the men´s competition were Jeff Cowan and Bill Braithwaite and the ladies competition was won by Bernie Massey and Sue Gladwin. The presentation was in the Casa Club where everyone enjoyed a Ploughmans Lunch. The new´skipper´arrived back from holiday with a sackful of goodies and these were handed out to various members. A very enjoyable day (I think) which everyone enjoyed.
