Playa de la Arena boasts one of the finest, cleanest natural black sand beaches in the area and it has lots of bars, restaurants and shops along it's promenade. It's not the biggest of beaches but it certainly is one of the nicest and usually enjoys a nice calm sea. You have to be a little bit careful when you enter the water because there are quite a few rocks under the water. However, the quality of the sea here is superb and the beach has been awarded a blue flag for many years.

This modern resort is still being developed and there are some stunning properties being built in the surrounding areas which includes gorgeous, sumptuous villas and delightful apartments. With new blocks of apartments and luxury modern hotels also being built you might think Playa de la Arena might be losing some of it's charm, but this is not the case at all, as it has retained it's wonderful traditional Canarian feel to it. There is a lot of British influence and this is especially true of the pubs and bars found along the promenade and in town.

This lovely small and peaceful resort is a firm favourite with people who want to spend some quality time in the sun which means the nightlife is not that great but the amount of bars and restaurants found in Playa de la Arena more than make up for this. Visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to finding a great place to spend an evening. The restaurants serve both an International cuisine as well as the delicious Canarian dishes.

There is a tourist centre in the town as well as shops and a post office. The whole area is beautifully landscaped with sub tropical plants including palm trees and lovely exotic plants and the properties are all geared up for the wonderful outdoor living the island offers them.
