Playa del Duque A Wonderfully Exclusive Area on Tenerife
Many visitors to the island could be forgiven for thinking they were in the Caribbean when they first arrive on Playa del Duque with it's gorgeous sheltered bay. Situated in southern Tenerife in Costa Adeje, the area is an exclusive holiday resort that has a lot to offer visitors to this lovely sun drenched island.
There is a very luxurious and lavish 5 star hotel called the Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque Resort which boasts a prime seafront position and is one of the most opulent hotels on the island. The area also boasts incredibly well maintained and well designed apartments as well as stunning villas that put the focus on superb outdoor living in such a marvellous and typical Canarian way.
The promenade along this length of the coastline is both elegant and very stylish with plenty of restaurants as well as cafés where visitors from mainland Spain and Europe enjoy fabulous meals or a nice cool drink as they watch the world go by in this very chic area. The choice of eateries is brilliant with wonderful traditional tapas and Canarian dishes to a more International cuisine. The shops along this stretch are brilliant too with many of them selling the best designer labels. Playa del Duque is geared up in such a way that visitors have all the facilities they would ever need and this includes shower and changing areas with the added bonus of umbrellas, sunshades and delightful straw parasols.
The sand on Playa del Duque looks gorgeous and this stretch of beach is rated as a blue flag area. The beach does get very busy with visitors from the Spanish mainland descending on the island during the summer month of August to soak up the wonderful sunshine and atmosphere of the place. One thing about Playa del Duque is that it feels so far from the other areas of the island. This is because of the wonderful large rock that juts out into the ocean and which acts as a natural barrier adding a certain touch of pure exclusivity to the area and the beach itself. This is one place on the island where people like to be seen and is considered one of the chicest parts of Tenerife.
